May 24, 2026 will be here before we know it, and we will need our usual army of intrepid souls to help with picnic tasks or with food donations. Can you be part of the team?
Food Donations are easy because you deliver your donation to the picnic grounds that morning, and your work is done! We are looking for donations of cupcakes, brownies, lemon bars, slaw, and fruit. We especially are in need of fruit and slaw donations!
Slaw: Send email to Bonnie Plakos
Fruit: Send email to Bonnie Plakos
Cupcakes: Send email to Marti Campbell
Brownies or Lemon Bars: Send email to Bob Pounds
Helping At The Picnic: Each year, we make a big event easier by having many volunteers each doing their own bit, and the old saying that “many hands make light work” is proved to be true. None of the jobs require any training; all that is needed is a smile and the willingness to pitch in for a couple of hours on a (hopefully) sunny May afternoon. If you can help with any of the following tasks, please send an email to Paul Plakos!
Fruitarian(s)! This involves receiving fruit donations and managing everything fruity…arranging the fruit on plates for servers, maybe cutting up things as you go along. It’s an important job! Usually done by one person who stays for the whole time, although it could be split up if needed. We really need this one, can you help?
Grill: Join the fire department gang working the burger grills. It is a stand-up job and it can get smoky…but you’d be in good company. We need some people for both first and second halves of the picnic.
Kids Games: We need a couple of kid-and-game-loving people to help to supervise the kid’s games at 1:30 (be there no later than 1:00). Sack races, water balloons, tug o’ war, etc.
Setup Help: After the heavy work of setting up the tables is done we need help cutting and taping table coverings on all of the cooking and serving tables. Starts around 08:15. One or two more helpers would be great.
Floaters: We usually try to line up a person or two to just “be available” to fill in where there is a need, or if a scheduled volunteer doesn’t show up, you just need to be nearby and findable. Almost always the floaters don’t end up doing anything, but you never know. Want to be on standby?
MORE OPENINGS WILL BE POSTED HERE IF NEEDED AFTER WE FINISH REACHING OUT TO PAST VOLUNTEERS.
A big THANK YOU to all of our wonderful volunteers and supporters. We could not have a successful event without you!
