It's Picnic Time!

The 2013 TSRVFD Memorial Day BBQ Picnic will be held on Sunday, May 26th at One-Eyed Jack's. We hope to see everyone there for food, games, fun, and community!

The Memorial Day picnic is the VFD's major fundraiser for the year. It is an "old-fashioned" picnic, a simple (but tasty!) menu of hamburgers, hot dogs, hot links, veggie burgers, slaw, beans, fruit, dessert, soft drinks, beer, or wine; kids games at 1:30 (sack races, water balloon toss, tug o' war...), and a visit from SMOKEY BEAR for the kids and the kids-at-heart. The VFD and CALFIRE staff and their fire engines will be there and you can ask questions about the department and see the equipment.

Many volunteers are needed to help to make the picnic a success, and we look forward to seeing many "old hands" as well as new faces. We'll be contacting those who have volunteered in the past, and welcome new recruits!  See Picnic Volunteers Needed for jobs that need filling.  To volunteer, please send email to This email address is being protected from spambots. North Fire Station Residing Project

At long last, the NFS residing project is underway!  The department's North Station, built in 1986, is in need of refurbishment.  In 2009 and 2010 various projects have been completed by the volunteers, including repainting the station interior and replacing the window blinds.  The largest part of the project is now in progress: the replacement of the weathered redwood siding.  The department is grateful to have received a donation of "HardiePlank" cement fiber siding, which will help with the total cost of the project, but the remaining costs of removing the old siding, repairing whatever damage may or may not be found beneath, and staining and installing the new siding are substantial.  At this time the cost of the project is expected to be $90,000.

The department has accumulated funds to complete the project, however, this will use up most of the VFD's reserves.  Unlike the South Station on Annapolis Road, which is owned by CAL FIRE, and our fire engines and trucks, which are county assets paid for by tax money collected from County Service Area #40, the NFS is wholly owned and maintained by the VFD (and not supported by CSA #40 funds). Your VFD is there 24/7 to help in time of need.  We love to do it, but we need your help to keep our station in good repair.

Work started in March, 2013 and will continue, weather-permitting, through early Summer.  We hope you will consider donating to TSRVFD to help us be ready for other needs!

Please read the North Fire Station History for more information on the NFS.
